Shipping & Delivery

We provide honest delivery estimates based on the destination of your gift. We’d rather give you a realistic timeframe than create disappointment with an optimistic promise that may not be possible to keep.

Delivery timeframes for Standard and Express services are estimates, and the date selected when placing your order is a requested delivery date rather than a guaranteed arrival date. Your gift may arrive earlier or later depending on the actual time it takes to travel through the carrier network.

We also offer a Premium Delivery service by prior arrangement for selected Gold Coast areas and some Brisbane hospitals when your gift needs to be delivered outside our regular carriers’ usual delivery timeframes or availability. Where a particular delivery date is essential, this may provide an alternative to our regular carrier services. Once arranged and confirmed with GBB, the agreed delivery date is guaranteed.

Large Hampers

Because of their size, some larger hampers have different delivery options and restrictions.

FREE Standard Delivery is available to major cities and surrounding suburbs including Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Adelaide. Selected large hampers can also be delivered to Tasmania and WA metro areas. An additional $20 delivery charge applies to non-metro destinations where delivery is available.

Large hampers cannot currently be delivered to the Northern Territory or some rural and remote areas. The product page will show the delivery options available for the hamper you have chosen.

Have your heart set on one of our larger hampers?

If Standard Delivery isn’t available to your postcode, please feel free to contact us. Depending on the destination, the hamper you’ve chosen and any additions to your order, we may be able to arrange an alternative delivery service and provide an estimate of the additional delivery cost and timeframe.

Express Delivery – $15 per Hamper

Express Delivery is available to most capital cities and surrounding suburbs Monday–Friday. Current estimated carrier delivery timeframes are:

  • Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra, Darwin, Hobart and surrounding metro areas – 1–3 business days
  • Non-metro and regional areas – add 1–4 business days

Express Delivery is not available for some larger hampers due to their size. The product page will show the delivery options available for your chosen hamper.

Same Day Delivery – Selected Gold Coast Areas

Same Day Delivery is available to selected Gold Coast areas when possible.

Depending on the destination and availability, gifts may be hand delivered by our Team or a reputable door-to-door courier.

Same Day Delivery is not currently available to Currumbin Valley, Tallebudgera Valley, Bonogin, Advancetown, Beechmont, Lower Beechmont, Binna Burra, Natural Bridge, Numinbah Valley, Southern Lamington, Austinville, Neranwood, Springbrook or South Stradbroke.

Availability can also depend on the particular address and circumstances on the day, so an address not listed above is not a guarantee that Same Day Delivery will be available.

Premium Delivery – $30 per Address

Our Premium Delivery service is available by prior arrangement for selected Gold Coast areas and some Brisbane hospitals.

Premium Delivery may suit when your gift needs to arrive on a particular date or outside the usual timeframes or availability of our regular carriers. The service is $30 per delivery address and is subject to availability and prior confirmation.

For Premium Delivery enquiries, please contact us by email at helpdesk@giftbasketboutique.com.au or through live chat before placing your order.

Premium Delivery is available Monday–Friday, including Same Day and After-hours delivery in selected areas, and on Saturday in selected areas. Delivery to some Brisbane hospitals may also be available by prior arrangement.

For Same Day Premium Delivery, please contact us before 1pm Monday–Friday or before 10am Saturday. Premium Delivery must be arranged and confirmed by GBB before it is considered booked.

Once Premium Delivery has been arranged and confirmed, the agreed delivery date is guaranteed. Where required, we may also arrange an agreed delivery window. In that case, delivery within the agreed window is guaranteed, but an exact delivery time cannot be guaranteed. Any other special delivery requirement must be specifically agreed with GBB.

Premium Delivery is not advertised for Sundays or public holidays.

We strongly recommend providing the recipient’s contact number for Premium Delivery. While we will always try to complete the delivery without unnecessarily disturbing the recipient or spoiling a surprise, having a contact number can be particularly important if we encounter difficulty gaining access or need information to complete the delivery as arranged.

A courtesy email will be sent to the purchaser as soon as possible after the Premium Delivery has been completed.

If We Cannot Complete a Premium Delivery

We’ll do everything reasonably possible to complete your Premium Delivery as agreed. If we’re unable to gain access to the property or safely complete the delivery, we may contact the recipient using the telephone number provided to arrange access or ask whether there is a suitable safe place where the gift can be left.

If, after reasonable attempts, we’re still unable to complete the delivery, the gift will be returned to GBB and we’ll contact the purchaser to explain what has happened and discuss the available options.

If another Premium Delivery attempt is requested, an additional Premium Delivery fee will apply. If the delivery is no longer time-sensitive, the purchaser may choose to have the gift sent using our regular delivery service at no additional delivery charge. The regular carrier’s estimated delivery timeframes will then apply and the delivery date will no longer be guaranteed.

More About Delivery

Understanding Carrier Delivery Timeframes

The delivery timeframes shown on our website are estimates for the carrier service and destination, and apply from the time your gift is dispatched – not from the time the order is placed.

If the carrier’s estimated delivery timeframe is 1–3 business days, the parcel may arrive on the first, second or third business day after dispatch. Each of those days falls within the estimated timeframe.

Please allow the full estimated carrier timeframe before considering a parcel delayed.

Requested Delivery Dates

The first available delivery date shown in the calendar represents the earliest estimated arrival date based on the carrier service and destination. It is not a guaranteed delivery date.

Selecting a delivery date for Standard or Express Delivery tells us when you would like the gift to arrive. It does not shorten the carrier’s estimated timeframe or guarantee delivery on that date.

Occasionally, your gift may arrive earlier than the requested date. We dispatch according to the carrier’s estimated transit time for the destination, but once a parcel has entered the carrier network it may move through the network faster than expected.

Business Days & Dispatch

A business day means Monday–Friday excluding public holidays. Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays are not counted as business days for Standard or Express Delivery.

Orders placed before 2pm Monday–Friday for the earliest available delivery date will normally be dispatched the same business day. Orders placed after 2pm will normally be dispatched the next business day.

For example, an order placed at 3pm on Monday for a destination with an estimated 1–3 business day timeframe would normally be dispatched on Tuesday, and the carrier’s estimated timeframe begins from dispatch.

An order placed at 8pm on Friday has been received after our daily dispatch cut-off. Its next normal dispatch day would be Monday, or Tuesday if Monday is a public holiday. The carrier’s estimated delivery timeframe begins after the gift has been dispatched – the weekend does not count as the first two days of its journey.

Orders placed for a future requested delivery date will be held and dispatched at an appropriate time based on the destination and the carrier’s estimated transit time.

A Few Delivery Terms Explained

Dispatch: Your gift has left GBB and has been handed to the delivery carrier. Carrier delivery estimates begin from dispatch, not from the time the order was placed.

Business Day: Monday–Friday excluding public holidays. Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays are not counted as business days for Standard or Express Delivery.

Estimated Delivery Timeframe: The carrier’s estimated range for delivery. A 1–3 business day estimate means delivery on Day 1, Day 2 or Day 3 after dispatch is within the estimate.

Requested Delivery Date: The date you would like your gift to arrive. For Standard and Express Delivery this is a preferred date, not a guaranteed date.

Express Delivery: A faster carrier service. Express does not mean Same Day Delivery and does not mean delivery sooner than the estimated Express timeframe.

Onboard for Delivery: The parcel has been allocated to a driver and would normally be expected to be delivered that day. It is not a guarantee that delivery will be completed that day, and the parcel may be returned to the depot if the driver’s run cannot be completed.

Authority to Leave (ATL): Permission for the driver to leave the parcel without a signature if the driver considers the location safe. ATL does not guarantee the parcel will be left; the driver makes the final decision.

Delivered: The carrier has completed delivery to the nominated address or an authorised receiving point. At hospitals, businesses and other organisations, this may be a loading dock, mail room, reception or another authorised receiving area rather than the intended recipient personally.

Authority to Leave

Unless otherwise specified, our parcels are sent with Authority to Leave (ATL). This allows the driver to leave the parcel without obtaining a signature where the driver considers there is a suitable safe location.

Most drivers will leave a parcel where it can be safely left, but the final decision rests with the driver. Apartments, units and other properties with restricted access may not have a suitable safe location. Authority to Leave does not guarantee that a parcel will be left.

If Australia Post cannot safely leave the parcel, a card or notification may be provided and the parcel may be taken to a local Post Office for collection.

If Aramex cannot safely leave the parcel, a card or notification may be provided and the parcel may be taken to a collection point or courier depot, or instructions may be provided for arranging another delivery. It is the recipient’s responsibility to contact Aramex within the timeframe specified by the carrier and arrange collection, redelivery or another available option directly. Additional redelivery or redirection charges may apply.

Both carriers have limited holding periods. If a parcel is not collected or arrangements are not made within the carrier’s specified timeframe, it may be returned to GBB.

Once a parcel has been properly delivered under Authority to Leave, the carrier’s responsibility ends. GBB cannot accept responsibility for loss, theft, damage or deterioration occurring after the delivery has been completed and the parcel has been left under authority.

Incorrect Addresses, Redirections & Changes After Dispatch

The purchaser is responsible for providing complete and correct delivery information when placing an order.

For parcels sent with Aramex, GBB may be able to assist with an attempt to intercept or redirect a parcel after dispatch. This cannot be guaranteed and will depend on where the parcel is within the carrier network when we are contacted.

Depending on the circumstances and the stage at which the parcel can be intercepted, a redirection or additional delivery charge may apply. Where the carrier applies an additional charge as a result of incorrect or changed delivery information, that cost is the purchaser’s responsibility, even if the original order qualified for FREE Standard Delivery.

Once a parcel has been dispatched with Australia Post, GBB cannot intercept, redirect or change the delivery address.

If a parcel is delivered to an incorrect address supplied with the order and cannot be recovered, GBB cannot accept responsibility for the loss. We will still assist where reasonably possible.

If a parcel is returned to GBB because of incorrect or incomplete delivery information, any return freight or other additional carrier charges incurred are the purchaser’s responsibility, even if the original order qualified for FREE Standard Delivery. If the gift is to be sent again, a new delivery charge will apply.

Special Delivery Requests & Instructions

You’re welcome to include reasonable delivery requests or additional information that may help facilitate a smooth delivery. This might include details about property access, gate or entry information, the location of reception, building directions, or other information that may assist the driver in finding or accessing the delivery address.

For deliveries made by Australia Post or Aramex, we’ll pass reasonable requests and relevant delivery information on to the carrier where possible. While additional information can help the driver complete the delivery, specific requests cannot be guaranteed.

This includes requests such as calling before delivery, delivery before or after a particular time, knocking or ringing the doorbell, using a particular entrance, or leaving the parcel in a requested location.

Adding a delivery request or instruction to your order does not make that request a guaranteed condition of delivery.

Recipient Contact Number

We strongly recommend providing the recipient’s contact number with your order. While our regular delivery carriers will not generally call the recipient before delivery, having a contact number can be very helpful to GBB if an unexpected delivery issue arises.

Where possible, we’ll try to resolve any delivery problem without unnecessarily disturbing the surprise or involving the recipient. If we need further information, we’ll normally try to contact the purchaser first.

However, if we’re unable to reach the purchaser, or if contacting the recipient directly may help us resolve the problem quickly, we may use the contact number provided. When contacting a recipient, we’ll be mindful that the delivery may be a surprise and will avoid revealing the nature of the parcel wherever possible.

We will only use the number where reasonably necessary in connection with the delivery.

Tracking & Delivery Problems

Once your gift has been dispatched, an email notification will be sent to the purchaser with the carrier’s tracking details, allowing you to follow its journey.

We also monitor tracking so that if something unusual appears, we can identify it early and take appropriate action where possible.

Tracking information is provided by the carrier and may not update immediately. A parcel may continue moving through the carrier network even when the tracking information appears unchanged.

Carrier networks use sorting and distribution hubs, so the route shown in tracking may not always appear geographically direct. This does not necessarily mean that the parcel has been misrouted.

Onboard for Delivery

If tracking shows that your parcel is Onboard for Delivery, it has been allocated to a driver and would normally be expected to be delivered that day.

However, this does not guarantee that delivery will be completed that day. Circumstances during the driver’s run may mean the parcel is returned to the depot and delivered on a later day.

Tracking Shows Delivered but the Gift Cannot Be Found

If tracking shows your parcel as delivered but the recipient cannot locate it, please first check around the property and with anyone else who may have accepted the delivery.

At hospitals, businesses and other organisations, the parcel may have been accepted at an authorised receiving point and still be moving through the organisation’s internal distribution system.

If the parcel still cannot be located, please contact GBB and we’ll assist with a carrier enquiry where reasonably possible. Delivery records may help establish where the parcel was delivered.

Delayed or Unusual Tracking

The full carrier delivery estimate should normally be allowed before a parcel is considered delayed. However, if tracking indicates that something unusual may have occurred, we may investigate earlier where appropriate.

Every situation is different, and the action available will depend on the carrier, destination, tracking information and circumstances.

Delivery Delays & Circumstances Outside Our Control

While we carefully choose our delivery carriers and monitor parcels after dispatch, circumstances beyond our control can occasionally affect a delivery once a gift has entered the carrier network.

Delays may be caused by weather events, floods, cyclones, bushfires, road or transport disruptions, accidents, depot or network delays, sorting or routing issues, unusually high parcel volumes, access difficulties, failed delivery attempts, incorrect or incomplete address information, or other circumstances outside GBB’s reasonable control.

Carrier delivery timeframes are estimates, and we ask that the full estimated timeframe for your destination is allowed before a parcel is considered delayed.

A delay beyond the carrier’s estimated timeframe does not constitute a failure of our agreement to deliver and does not automatically entitle the purchaser to cancel an order or receive a refund once the gift has left our premises.

If a parcel appears to be significantly delayed or there is reason to believe something has gone wrong, we’ll investigate and assist where reasonably possible. Each situation is assessed individually according to the circumstances and the information available, including carrier tracking and delivery records.

We regularly send gifts to hospitals, but hospital deliveries work a little differently from residential deliveries. The way your gift reaches the patient will depend on whether it is being delivered by one of our regular carriers or hand delivered by GBB.

Deliveries by Australia Post or Aramex

Australia Post and Aramex do not deliver directly to a patient’s ward or room. Parcels are delivered to the hospital’s loading dock, mail room or other designated receiving point.

Once a parcel has been accepted by the hospital’s authorised receiving area, the carrier’s delivery is complete and the hospital’s internal distribution system takes over.

Tracking may therefore show the parcel as delivered before it reaches the patient. The time taken for the hospital to transfer the gift internally is outside the control of GBB and the delivery carrier.

Gifts Hand Delivered by GBB

For hospital deliveries made directly by GBB, we’ll take the gift to the patient’s room where access is permitted. If we cannot access the room directly, the gift will be left with the appropriate ward reception or hospital staff for the patient.

Information We Need

Please provide as much relevant information as possible, including:

  • the exact hospital name
  • whether it is the public or private hospital where applicable
  • the patient’s full name
  • the building where applicable
  • the ward name or number
  • the room or bed number if known
  • the recipient’s contact number

If the ward or room number is unknown, we may be able to locate the patient using their full name and hospital details. Hospital privacy policies and the circumstances at the time may limit the information available.

Maternity Deliveries

For maternity deliveries, please provide the mother’s full name as she is registered with the hospital. This is particularly important where her registered surname is different from her partner’s or the baby’s surname. Providing only the father, partner or baby’s name may prevent us from locating her.

If the Patient May Be Discharged Soon

Hospital stays can sometimes be shorter than expected. Before ordering, please check that the patient is still admitted and allow sufficient time for the carrier’s full estimated delivery timeframe.

If the patient is expected to leave hospital within a few days, please consider whether the gift can reasonably reach the hospital before they are discharged. A gift travelling interstate, for example, may still be within the carrier network when the patient leaves hospital.

If we become aware that a patient has been discharged before the gift has reached them, we’ll assist where reasonably possible to determine what options are available. What can be done will depend on how the gift is being delivered, where it is at the time and the circumstances. It may be possible to make another delivery arrangement, or the parcel may be returned to a courier depot. Additional redirection or redelivery charges may apply.

If a carrier parcel has already been accepted at the hospital’s authorised receiving area, the carrier’s delivery has been completed. The hospital’s internal distribution system then takes over, and GBB or the carrier may not necessarily know that the patient has already been discharged.

Where a parcel needs to be located or retrieved after delivery to the hospital’s authorised receiving area, we’ll assist where reasonably possible. Depending on the circumstances, the recipient may need to contact the hospital directly to arrange collection or retrieval through the hospital’s internal system.

Business Deliveries

When sending a gift to a business or commercial address, please provide the full business or company name as part of the delivery address.

For shopping centres and commercial complexes, the business name must be provided. A shop number alone is not sufficient, as shop numbers are not always displayed or visible to delivery drivers.

Please provide as much relevant information as possible, including the recipient’s full name, business or company name, complete street address, building name where applicable, and any level, suite or unit number that may assist with locating the business.

Insufficient or incorrect business information may result in a failed delivery, and any additional redelivery, redirection or return costs incurred may be the purchaser’s responsibility.

Who Can Accept a Business Delivery?

At larger businesses and commercial buildings, parcels may be delivered to reception, concierge, a mail room, loading dock or another authorised receiving point or person.

At smaller businesses or shops, the parcel may be accepted by an appropriate staff member on behalf of the recipient.

Once the parcel has been accepted at the business by an authorised receiving point or appropriate person, the carrier’s delivery is complete.

The gift may then need to pass through the business’s own internal distribution system before reaching the intended recipient. This is outside the control of GBB and the delivery carrier, so tracking may show the parcel as delivered before the recipient personally receives it.

Deliveries to Schools, Government & Defence Addresses

Schools

When sending a gift to a school, please provide the full school name as part of the delivery address.

Depending on the school and its access requirements, parcels may be accepted by administration, reception, a mail room or another designated receiving point.

Once the parcel has been accepted by an appropriate member of staff or authorised receiving point, the carrier’s delivery is complete. The school’s internal distribution process then takes over, and the gift may not reach the intended recipient immediately.

Tracking may therefore show the parcel as delivered before the intended recipient has personally received it.

Government Buildings

Government buildings may have restricted access or their own procedures for receiving deliveries. Parcels may be accepted at reception, security, a mail room, loading dock or another designated receiving area.

Once the parcel has been accepted at an authorised receiving point, the carrier’s delivery is complete. Any internal distribution that follows is outside the control of GBB and the delivery carrier.

This means there may be a delay between tracking showing delivered and the gift reaching the intended recipient.

Military & Defence Addresses

Military and Defence locations can have additional access restrictions and internal delivery procedures.

Some secure or restricted Defence addresses may not be accessible to regular commercial couriers, particularly where public courier access is prohibited or special clearance or pre-arranged access is required. In these circumstances, delivery by Australia Post may be necessary.

Once a parcel has been accepted at the facility’s authorised receiving point, it may enter the facility’s own internal mail distribution system. Please allow additional time for the gift to reach the intended recipient after carrier tracking shows it as delivered.

GBB and the delivery carrier cannot control the facility’s internal distribution process once the parcel has been accepted at its authorised receiving point.

PO Box Deliveries

Gifts addressed to a PO Box can only be sent using Australia Post.

Once a parcel has been delivered to the recipient’s PO Box or associated collection facility, Australia Post’s delivery is complete. The timing of collection after that point is outside the control of GBB and Australia Post.

Where a hamper contains food items or other temperature-sensitive products, we recommend that the parcel is collected as soon as reasonably possible. GBB cannot accept responsibility for deterioration or damage caused by delayed collection or the conditions in which a parcel is stored after it has been properly delivered.

If you believe a parcel or its contents have been damaged during transit, please contact us as soon as possible. We will assess the circumstances individually and may require photographic evidence so that the matter can be investigated.

Unable to Deliver, Collection & Unclaimed Parcels

If a parcel cannot be safely left or the driver is unable to complete the delivery, it may be taken to a Post Office, collection point or courier depot, depending on the carrier and the circumstances.

The recipient will normally be provided with a card or notification containing instructions for collection or any other options available. The parcel will only be held for the period specified by the carrier, so it is the recipient’s responsibility to follow those instructions and arrange collection or any available redelivery within that timeframe.

In some circumstances, access to the property may prevent the driver from leaving a card or notification at the address. Carrier tracking should therefore also be checked for information about an unsuccessful delivery or where the parcel has been taken. Where possible, GBB can assist with tracking the parcel and help determine or arrange the appropriate next step.

If the parcel is not collected or otherwise dealt with within the carrier’s holding period, it may be returned to GBB.

If the purchaser would like the gift sent again after it has been returned to us, a new delivery charge will apply, even if the original order qualified for FREE Standard Delivery.

FREE Standard Delivery only covers the original shipment from GBB to the nominated delivery address. Any subsequent redirection, redelivery or resending that incurs additional freight may be chargeable.

Returned Parcels & Refunds

If a parcel is returned to GBB because the recipient did not collect or otherwise deal with it within the carrier’s holding period, through no fault of GBB or the delivery carrier, and the purchaser decides that they no longer wish to have the gift sent to the recipient, a minimum of $25 will be deducted from any applicable refund to help cover the costs already incurred in processing and dispatching the order.

If the purchaser would prefer to have the returned gift sent to themselves or another address, this can be arranged where appropriate. A new delivery charge will apply based on the destination and delivery service required.

Once the parcel has been returned to us, the gift and its contents will be inspected. Further deductions may apply where additional costs have been incurred, where products or packaging cannot reasonably be reused, or where food items are no longer considered suitable for inclusion in another customer’s gift.

This also applies where the original order qualified for FREE Standard Delivery. Although the purchaser was not charged for Standard Delivery, GBB still incurred the cost of sending the parcel to the nominated delivery address.

Any applicable refund will therefore be determined after the returned parcel has been received and assessed.

Damage During Transit

We take great care when packing our gifts to help ensure they arrive safely and in the condition in which they left us. Occasionally, however, damage can occur during transit.

If your gift arrives damaged, please contact us as soon as possible and provide photographs showing the damage. Photographic evidence helps us understand the nature and extent of the problem and is also required by our delivery carriers when investigating damage that may have occurred during transit.

Please retain the gift, its contents and all outer packaging while the matter is being assessed. Depending on the circumstances, we may ask for photographs of the complete gift as received, the affected item, the shipping carton, shipping label or other relevant details.

Each situation is assessed individually on a case-by-case basis.

Responsibility for Your Gift

GBB takes great care in preparing and packaging every gift before it leaves our premises.

Once a gift has been dispatched and handed to the delivery carrier, GBB’s responsibility for the physical care and handling of the parcel ends and responsibility passes to the carrier while the parcel is within their delivery network.

This does not mean we’ll leave you on your own if something goes wrong. We will assist with tracking, carrier enquiries and investigations where reasonably possible. Our assistance in resolving a delivery issue does not mean that GBB has accepted responsibility for an event that occurred after the parcel left our premises.

The carrier’s responsibility ends once the parcel has been properly delivered to the nominated address, left in accordance with Authority to Leave, or accepted by an authorised person or receiving point at the delivery location.

After delivery has been completed, responsibility for the gift passes to the recipient or delivery location. GBB and the delivery carrier cannot accept responsibility for loss, theft, damage or deterioration occurring after a parcel has been properly delivered.

Multiple Hampers in One Order

Where an order contains more than one hamper, how the gifts are packed and dispatched will depend on the delivery service selected, as well as the size and packaging requirements of the hampers.

For FREE Standard Delivery, multiple hampers may be packed and dispatched together or separately, depending on their size and packaging requirements. Where hampers are dispatched separately, individual tracking details may be provided and the gifts may not necessarily arrive at the same time.

For Express Delivery, each hamper is dispatched separately and the $15 Express Delivery charge applies to each hamper. Each hamper will have its own tracking details and, although dispatched at the same time, they may not necessarily arrive together.

Christmas Delivery

The Christmas period is exceptionally busy for delivery networks, and carrier delivery timeframes may be longer than usual.

We recommend placing Christmas orders as early as possible and checking the Christmas delivery cut-off dates published on our website before ordering. Our Christmas cut-off dates are based on seasonal delivery information provided by our carriers and are intended to give gifts the best possible opportunity to arrive before Christmas.

Orders placed after the published Christmas delivery cut-off will still be processed and dispatched as usual; however, they should not be expected to arrive before Christmas.

Delivery is not available on Christmas Day.
